The DesMountgada Parade in Selva di Cadore
Every year on the second weekend of September: The DesMountgada Parade in Selva di Cadore.
The DesMountgada or Transhumance is a tradition that was recently recognised by UNESCO as cultural heritage. This event was an occasion to celebrate agricultural culture in the past; it involved animals returning from the mountain farms and summer pastures in Selva di Cadore.
This event dedicated to mountain pastures and farms in Val Fiorentina is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm. Year after year it is a tradition to mark the end of summer all together. During the “two days" you can attend the parade where the festively decorated livestock return from mountain farms and summer pastures in Val Fiorentina. Volunteer associations and curious handicrafts from the past can also be seen at the event. In the main tent you can enjoy music and folk dancing shows, visit the market with typical products and handicrafts, sample typical dishes at the gastronomic stand and learn all about the local farms and their products.
